Route Description

The Durmitor Trail Ultra 65 km is the longest and most demanding race of the event, created for experienced trail runners who want to experience the wilder and more remote side of Durmitor.

The race starts at Zminičko Jezero, in the quiet mountain landscape outside Žabljak. From the start, runners enter a long and varied route that gradually connects open highland terrain, remote trails, mountain lakes, forest sections, and some of the most scenic parts of the Durmitor area.

The first major section leads toward Riblje Jezero, the first aid station and an important point on the course. From there, the route continues deeper into the mountain toward Sedlo, one of the key control points of the race. This section introduces more serious mountain terrain, with longer climbs, exposed landscapes, and wide views of Durmitor’s peaks.

After Sedlo, runners continue toward Savin Kuk, passing through high mountain terrain and technical trail sections. This is one of the most demanding parts of the race, both physically and mentally, and requires careful pacing, good hydration, and attention to changing mountain conditions.

From Savin Kuk, the course gradually returns toward the forested side of Durmitor, passing Zminje Jezero and continuing toward Momčilov Grad. These later sections combine rolling forest trails, aid station support, and a gradual approach back toward the Crno Jezero area.

The final kilometers lead runners to the finish line at Crno Jezero, where the ultra distance ends in the main event area. Durmitor Trail Ultra is a full mountain experience: long, scenic, demanding, and rewarding — a race through lakes, forests, high mountain terrain, panoramic viewpoints, and the wild character of Durmitor.
