The 42KM trail starts at Riblje Lake and passes by Vražje Lake, continuing across the scenic Jezerska Plateau to Pošćensko Lake. From there, the course enters the dramatic heart of the Durmitor Massif, where runners will encounter the beautiful Modro and Valovito Lakes. These first 12 kilometers are undulating but runnable, with an aid station positioned at kilometer 13.

After Valovito Lake, the most demanding climb on the course begins — a steep ascent along the ridge leading up to Šljeme Peak, rising to over 2,450 meters above sea level. This 4.5 km segment includes a punishing 700+ meters of elevation gain. At the summit, a rapid and technical descent begins: 4.5 km with over 950 meters of cumulative drop — a section widely considered the toughest part of the course. Here, it's crucial to conserve your legs for what’s still to come.

The descent ends at the Savin Kuk ski center, where the terrain shifts to a more runnable forest trail. From here, the course merges with the 21KM race and leads to Crno Lake. Runners will circle the lake, then continue through the forest past Mlinski Potok toward Zminje Lake — a rolling section with another aid station at Mlinski Potok.

From Zminje Lake, the trail heads up toward Bosača village at the 31KM mark — the site of the main aid station. A steep 2 km climb with 250 meters of elevation gain follows, leading to Jablan Bare. The course then skirts Jablan Lake and ascends Ražana Glava, after which runners face a final descent to the finish line at Crno Lake, passing Barno Lake along the way. A final aid station awaits at kilometer 36, during this last 5 km stretch of descent.
